An Air India cabin crew member was allegedly sexually assaulted by an intruder at a London hotel earlier this week.

A member of the Air India cabin crew was reportedly assaulted by an intruder at a hotel in London earlier this week. The event took place on Thursday night at the Radisson Red Hotel located at Heathrow Airport.

The assailant was apprehended and subsequently delivered to law enforcement authorities. The crew member was transported to a medical facility and is currently en route back to Mumbai, as reported by The Hindu.

An anonymous source cited by the Times of India reported that the incident took place shortly after midnight while crew members from several Air India flights were residing at the location.

"The crew member was asleep when an assailant entered her room around 1:30 am. Alarmed, she awoke and called for assistance. The intruder assaulted her with a clothes hanger and pulled her across the floor as she attempted to flee towards the door," the source stated.

The individual sustained significant bruising, and the assailant attempted to flee the scene. Authorities were notified, and she was subsequently transported to a medical facility. Due to her condition, she was unable to return to her duties, prompting a colleague from the crew to remain by her side, as reported by the source.

The crew of the airline has consistently raised concerns regarding insufficient safety measures, poorly lit corridors, unattended reception areas, and disturbances from individuals knocking on hotel doors, as reported by The Hindu.

"The current law and order conditions in certain regions of Britain, including London, necessitate heightened vigilance from everyone present. We have been cautious about venturing out alone after dark in London. It is imperative that crew members choose accommodations with robust security systems, particularly when these establishments are located in outer London rather than the city center," stated the pilots.

Air India has acknowledged the incident. A representative from Air India confirmed the occurrence and mentioned that the airline is providing comprehensive support to the affected crew member, including professional counseling, as reported by TOI.

The airline emphasized its commitment to the safety and well-being of its crew and staff and has requested privacy for those involved in the incident.

We express our profound distress regarding an unlawful intrusion that occurred at a hotel managed by a prominent international chain, which impacted one of our crew members. We are extending comprehensive support to our colleague and their wider team, including access to professional counseling services. Air India is collaborating with local law enforcement to address the situation thoroughly and is also engaging with the hotel management to prevent the recurrence of such incidents, as stated by the spokesperson in the newspaper.
